Machinists Serving Community

Machinist Union members in Wichita and the surrounding area gave from the heart to assure that no Angels were left behind in this years Salvation Army’s Angel Tree program. Members adopted 1,211 Salvation Army Angels. The Angel Tree and Spirit of Labor program was sponsored by IAMAW District Lodge 70 and the Wichita/Hutchinson Labor Federation. In all, union members were able to brighten Christmas for 1,260 local children this year.
“The Machinists in District 70 are hardworking people, who strive to improve life for those in our community as much as for themselves,” said Directing Business Representative and President of District Lodge 70, Cornell Beard. “Justice on the job and service to the community are only words until we put action behind them. I am proud of our members for their dedication to making these programs successful each year.
We send our deepest gratitude to the members and their families who’ve given and supported this program wholeheartedly. You have brightened this Christmas for many children in our community. We appreciate everyone who took part in making it a success, thank you.
*The Spirit of Labor program runs parallel to the Angel Tree program and was constructed to provide a nice Christmas for the children of our internal union families who have fallen on hard times.
