Machinists and Maritime Trades Lobby for Jones Act

Dozens of union leaders gathered in Washington, DC to ask Congress to maintain the Jones Act, a law that says goods shipped between US ports must be transported on ships that are owned, operated and made by Americans. The law has provided job security for Machinist members who build ships around the country. But in recent months, some Republican politicians in Washington have discussed waiving the Jones Act.
