Dear Sisters, Brothers and Friends of the IAM,
On behalf of the IAM Executive Council and a grateful union, I simply wanted to personally thank every veteran and active military service member on this special day. Just a few of the many IAM veterans within our ranks want to share a message with you, too.
The IAM has a special and sacred bond with our armed forces. As the largest defense union in North America, many of our members are veterans themselves. Our members build and maintain the military products that keep our service members safe and protect our freedom. And like I wrote in a recent op-ed in The Hill, IAM veterans are absolutely essential to our workforce and the military.
It’s part of the reason why we are so excited to soon roll out a new program to help IAM military veterans with Veterans Affairs claims. We are extremely proud of the IAM Veteran Services program and the many ways we show our appreciation to those who serve, such as a recent veterans appreciation brunch.
From a U.S. Navy veteran to each and every brave man and woman who has and continues to keep us safe—thank you and God bless you.
