Air Capital Commitment

Kansas Department of Labor (KDOL) Secretary Delia García and Deputy Secretary Brett Flachsbarth met with various union representatives at the Workforce Center in Wichita on Thursday to discuss State and Local resources being coordinated to help employees who have recently been or will be laid-off due to the mass layoff announcement at Spirit AeroSystems.
The impact on our community will certainly not be limited to the area’s largest aircraft manufacturing supplier but will have significant repercussions for the smaller local businesses as well.
Secretary García and Deputy Secretary Flachsbarth have coordinated the state’s response efforts for workers affected by the 737 MAX production halt while collaborating with 15 state and local agencies and organizations who have mobilized efforts for laid-off workers in the area.
The coordinated community response to keep and support our people and companies is called the Air Capital Commitment. The webpage is https://www.aircapitaloftheworld.com/commitment
The KDOL assured local Labor Union representatives of regular “State briefings” for updates.
