Pride Month Profiles: Abi Colon Gomez, Gabriel Mejias Ocasio and Jay Kelly

For Pride Month, the AFL-CIO is spotlighting various LGBTQ+ Americans who have worked and continue to work at the intersection of civil and labor rights. Today’s Pride Month profile is Abi Colon Gomez, Gabriel Mejias Ocasio and Jay Kelly.

More than a year ago, HMSHost workers began to organize for better treatment and a union at the Orlando International Airport. Many workers faced intimidation, disenfranchisement, misgendering and sexual harassment. UNITE HERE members Abi Colon Gomez, Gabriel Mejias Ocasio and Jay Kelly helped lead the fight at the airport.
