As we continue to assist Texas IAM members in the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey, we are now moving to assist IAM members in the U.S. Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico and Florida.
Machinists Union families in the U.S. Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico were first to experience the wrath of Hurricane Irma. The island of St. Thomas is dealing with near total devastation, while millions are cleaning up and without power in Puerto Rico. Irma is expected to make landfall in Florida on Sunday.
IAM members in Texas, the U.S. Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, Florida, and other affected areas are facing a long and trying road to recovery. They are helping their own communities, but they need our help, too.
FOR AFFECTED MACHINISTS UNION MEMBERS
We have compiled an extensive list of resources to help you recover. The IAM Irma Help Manual includes sections on FEMA, returning home, legal services, unemployment benefits, replacing lost documents, health care and prescriptions, housing challenges, and more.
If you are an IAM member affected by the hurricanes, you can apply for assistance from the IAM Disaster Relief Fund here.
If you are an IAM member who participates in certain Union Plus programs, you may be eligible for financial assistance through the Union Plus Disaster Relief Grant program.
All IAM members can receive confidential help through the IAM Employee/Member Assistance Program. Our services include, but are not limited to, addictions, mental health, stress, depression and financial hardship. You can reach the confidential IAM Assistance Helpline by calling 301-335-0735 or emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
